Singing Bowl and following Performance, Installation

This meditative bowl was created in conjunction with a melting performance. Another metalwork was placed on top of the metal vessel, and part of it was melted by exploiting the difference between the melting points of the two metals. Through this process, I sought to visualize my reflections on emptiness and worldly afflictions.

Inspired by the film Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring, the performance presents the deliberate destruction of a completed work. The video documentation is accompanied by music composed from hammering sounds collected during the making of the bowl. The repetitive hammering evokes sacred music while simultaneously forming the rhythm of a trap beat.

In the exhibition, the video was projected above the bowl to create the image of a halo. The installation also offered visitors a private space where they could sit on a cushion, listen through headphones, and experience the work through contemplation and meditation.

명상용 주발과 퍼포먼스, 설치작업

용해 퍼포먼스와 함께 제작한 명상용 주발이다. 금속 기물 위에 또 다른 금속 작업을 올리고, 서로 다른 두 금속의 융점 차이를 이용해 그 일부를 녹이는 연출을 시도했다. 이를 통해 허무와 번뇌에 관한 생각을 시각화하고자 했다.

영화 《봄, 여름, 가을, 겨울 그리고 봄》에서 영감을 받은 이 퍼포먼스는 완성된 작품을 의도적으로 소멸시키는 과정을 보여준다. 퍼포먼스 기록 영상에는 주발을 제작하며 수집한 망치 소리를 재구성해 만든 음악이 함께 재생된다. 반복되는 망치 소리는 종교음악을 연상시키는 동시에 트랩 비트의 리듬을 형성한다.

전시에서는 주발 위로 영상을 투사해 광배(Halo)를 형상화했다. 또한 관객이 독립된 공간에서 방석과 헤드셋을 이용해 작품을 감상하며 명상을 경험할 수 있도록 구성했다.
